Howard Johnson International, Inc. neither owns, operates nor franchises individual properties outside of the United States. Instead, the development of Howard Johnson International, Inc. outside the United States is done by independent developers operating under a Howard Johnson Master License Agreement. The Agreement gives the Howard Johnson Master Licensee the exclusive rights within a defined territory to open and operate Howard Johnson properties, either directly, or through individual franchise.
